Advanced Specialty Resins & Coating Solutions

Key facts

  • CoatPro Innovations runs a defined seven-step custom development process.
  • Steps: understand the application, define requirements, recommend a technology, laboratory evaluation, customer trials, optimisation, scale-up and supply.
  • Development covers resin selection, formulation, application testing and technical documentation.
  • Customer trial support is included rather than optional.

Most resin requirements that reach us do not match a catalogue grade exactly. That is the normal case, not the exception — which is why custom development is a defined process here rather than an occasional favour.

Our seven-step process

Understand the application

What is being coated or printed, on what, using what process, to achieve what. This is a technical conversation, and the more specific it is, the faster everything downstream moves.

Define substrate and performance requirements

Substrate identity and treatment level, application method and line speed, drying or curing capacity, and the performance targets the finished coating must meet — with the test methods you use to judge them.

Recommend an appropriate resin or binder technology

Based on steps one and two, we identify the technology platform and starting architecture. Sometimes this is an existing grade; often it is a modification of one.

Conduct laboratory evaluation

Formulation and resin screening against the defined targets, with application testing under conditions that reflect your process as closely as we can reproduce them.

Support customer trials

Laboratory results and production-line results diverge often enough that this step is not optional. We support trials on your line and interpret what comes back.

Optimise the formulation and process

Refinement against trial feedback — which usually means adjusting the balance between competing properties rather than improving everything at once.

Support scale-up and regular supply

Moving from trial quantity to production supply, with the technical documentation the specification requires.

What we need from you to start

  • The substrate, including any surface treatment and its measured level
  • The application or printing process, line speed and target coat weight
  • Drying or curing capacity: oven temperature and dwell, or UV lamp type and power
  • The performance targets, with the test methods you use
  • Any regulatory or restricted-substance requirements that apply in your market
  • What is not working with your current material, if you have one

How long it takes

Honestly: it depends on distance from an existing platform. A grade adjustment against a technology we already have moves quickly. A genuinely new system takes longer, and most of that time is trial cycles rather than laboratory work — you cannot compress the wait for line feedback.

We give a realistic timeline once we understand the requirement, rather than a standard one up front.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality and exclusivity arrangements are agreed case by case before development begins. If either matters to you, raise it at the first conversation rather than later.

Ask a technical question

Seven steps: understand the application, define substrate and performance requirements, recommend an appropriate resin technology, conduct laboratory evaluation, support customer trials, optimise the formulation and process, and support scale-up and regular supply.

The substrate and its surface treatment, the application process and line speed, the drying or curing capacity available, the performance targets with the test methods you use, and any regulatory requirements in your market.

Yes. Customer trial support is step five of the process. Laboratory and production-line results diverge frequently enough that we treat trial support as part of development rather than an add-on.

Confidentiality and exclusivity arrangements are agreed case by case before development starts. Raise the requirement at the first conversation.

It depends on how far the requirement sits from an existing technology platform and how quickly trial feedback returns. We give a realistic timeline once the requirement is understood rather than quoting a standard one.
